A curved bladed sword with a distinctive grip shape disc pommel, commonly used in India, particularly the Sikh warrior culture, and later incorporated into the British Indian Army.
The grip is very tight to the hand, and the disc pommel makes it uncomfortable to point with the tip. This is a designed feature, as their fighting style was focussed on closing distance and delivering powerful cuts. the benefit of the tight and firm grip, is that it makes the sword incredibly responsive to any movement of the body and arm, as well as great stability for parrying and deflecting.
Unusual if you are only familiar using European styles of curved blade, but very effective and rewarding.
