The Schiavona is a complex hilted cut and thrust sword used by Italian mercenaries.

Unlike a Scottish Basket, the Schiavona's basket is built in a way to allow you to hold it completely en pointe. It also has a thumb-ring, assisting with false-edge and quick redirection of cuts, and the handle shape allows the user to wield it effectively with many different grips and techniques.
